Kathleen Marie Hagler (nee Sassos)

Kathleen was born January 18, 1953 in Canton Ohio and with her family beside her, passed away at age 65 on August 16 ^th at Compassionate Care from peritoneal cancer. Kathleen was preceded in death by her ex-husband; Kenneth Eynon, husband; Donnie Hagler, father; Xenophon (aka Sax) Sassos, grandparents; Leo P. McDevitt, Stella (Murphy) McDevitt and Jane (Kenner) McDevitt, Philip and Vasilia (Georgiadou) Sassos, brother in law; Jack Fanno, nephew; Matthew Bowersox , uncles; Dr. George Sassos, John Simatacolas, James Simitacolas, Bill Stavrianou, Leo P. McDevitt, Tom McDevitt, and aunt; Dr. Ellie Sassos.

She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas high school (1971) and attended Kent State University. Kathleen was talented at so many things! She was one of the first female long-distance semi-truck drivers, she managed several businesses in Florida and was the kitchen manager and head cook at the Black Boar ranch in Florida for many years, where she kept everyone laughing and well fed! A licensed cosmetologist her family looked great with her haircuts and tips. Kathleen lived in Florida prior to her move 'back home' to Ohio in June of 2017. At her Florida home she had a wonderful mini animal preserve where she had goats, chickens, cats, dogs and other wildlife…she never met an animal she didn't love. She and Donnie shared a love of flowers and her home and property were ablaze with colorful flowers including her orchids, this love of flowers continued at her home in Canton. She could take a pair of knitting needles or a crotchet hook and make amazing creations that she would give away. The same with her canning of vegetables, fruits and jellies and if you are lucky you have one of these many items in your possession. She led a life that was totally authentic and filled with love. She was quick to laugh, made the best of any situation and never met a stranger…and would always leave you laughing and smiling. To know Kathleen was to love her and to love her is to miss her. So, if something strange or peculiar happens to you, just know it is Kathleen letting you know that she is just fine.

She is survived by her son David Eynon of Las Vegas, mother, Margaret Joanne (McDevitt) Sassos, siblings; Chris Ann Fanno, Michael (Suzan) Sassos and Robert Sassos all of Florida, Patrice Miller, Mary Jo (Jeff) Bowersox, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and cousins and we can't forget her canary, Sir Waylon and four-legged companion, Sugar. A private memorial date will be set later, to celebrate her life. The family wishes to thank the wonderful health care professionals at Mercy Hospital, Aultman Hospital, The Compassionate Care Center, Dr. John Mannos, Sandy and all who helped her.
