Laura J. (Gennett) Smith, age 97 of Canton, passed away early Tuesday morning. Born in Canton to the late Joseph and Maria (DiIulio) Gennett, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Raymond F. Smith and sisters Angeline Volpe, Dominica (Minnie) Piccare, Jeanette Herdlicka, Rose Cerreta, Theresa Hutton, Raphaela Meffie, Anna LaRocco, brothers Anthony DePello, Joseph DePello, Victor(Ben) Gennett, and Rocco Gennett. Laura attended McKinley High School and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, gambling, and was a dog lover who always had a little one on her lap. She is survived by her daughter Mary Jane Smith, sister-in-law Marilyn H. Daniels, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
