IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence J.
Pindel
November 10, 1950 – July 4, 2024
The music of Stark County's Larry Pindel, 73 fell silent at home on Thursday, July 4th, with his wife of 42 years Donna at his bedside following an extended illness. Born into a musical family, Larry's life was truly a beautiful canvas where his love of art and music led him to becoming a professional pianist and clarinet player by the age of 16. He graduated from Timken Vocational High School class of 1968. He was a proud member of the Timken Trojan Marching Band. He graduated from Kent State University as an award-winning artist with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts.
Larry spent his lifetime enjoying the arts in which he passionately pursued. He enjoyed a long musical career playing for The Jack Midas Touch of Gold Band, The John Trapani Big Band, The Bob Blyer Big Band, The Alliance Symphony, and The Stark County Fair Band just to name a few. He shared his love of music with his saxophone playing brother Dick Pindel, with whom he played alongside in many of those bands and with countless others throughout his 57 years as a professional musician. In line with his love of the arts, he enjoyed a long career starting as a commercial airbrush artist; moving later into the role of a digital artist and colorist ending his career specializing in his photography passion of retouching and restoring old heirloom photos.
Larry was a devout Catholic and was a member of All Saints Church, where he was the organist and served on the church council. When All Saints merged with St. Anthony's, Larry later served as an usher. He was very proud of his Polish heritage. Like his father, Frank he served as a past President of the Polish American Citizens Club, where he met his wife of 42 years Donna (Kulesa) Pindel. Throughout his lifetime you could find him at "the club" playing in softball leagues, bowling leagues, golf leagues, listening to polkas and enjoying the camaraderie with the other members many of which remained lifelong friends.
Born on Friday, November 10, 1950 in Canton, Ohio to the late Frank and Catherine Pindle. He was also proceeded in death by his brother Robert "Bob" and his wife Delores "Dee" Pindel. Larry is survived by his daughters Julie (Matt) Kulka, Lori (Caleb) Colvin; his stepchildren (whom he loved like his own) Kim Feemster, Todd Feemster and Gen Edwards. Also survived by eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Richard "Dick" (Mary) Pindel; and many nieces and nephews with whom he cherished his close bonds.
Larry's favorite holiday was the 4th of July, and his passing on that day felt like his way of saying that he was going out with a bang. He never missed attending concerts and the fireworks that come with the holiday. It is his family's sincere hope that as you watch the fireworks in the years to come that you take a moment to think fondly of Larry, his gentle nature and of a life well lived. The outpouring of love and countless visits during Larry's illness from his longtime priest, Father Tom Bishop truly meant the world to Larry and his family. Fr. Tom is not only a Priest, but he is a true shepherd to anyone who knows him. His family would also like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Dr. N. Rafique, Dr. Maaz Ahmed, Dr. Chakrabarti of Siedman Cancer Center, and to the outstanding staff at Crossroads Hospice for their kindness, compassionate care, and support.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 12th at the Rossi Family Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13th at 11 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Parish at St. Anthony Campus (located at 1530 11th St SE Canton, OH). It was Larry's wish to be cremated.
