Laynard "Mac" McCarty 1939-2025 - 85, of Canton, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. Known by his family as "Bub" he was born in Mill Gap, Virginia, on October 11, 1939 to the late Maynard and Eline McCarty. He was a retired pipe-fitter, a trade he learned during his proud service in the Navy. A dedicated lifelong member of the VFW, he enjoyed hunting, bowling, and golfing. Known for his knack for creating nicknames, he brought laughter to family and friends alike. To him, strangers were simply friends he hadn't met yet. He never forgot a person, their family, or their story.

Preceded in death by his brothers, Doug McCarty and Chuck McCarty. He is survived by his daughters, Kim McCarty, Carolyn (Mark) Heckert, and Lisa (Steve) Wallbrown; sisters Patricia (Larry) Feller and Norma (Larry) O'Donohue; grandchildren Tara, James, and Janessa; and many other loving family and friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Memorial services will begin in the funeral home at 6 p.m. Inurnment with military honors will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 9:15 a.m.
