Louis M. Karoue, age 87 of Canton, passed away Thursday evening. Born in Damascus, Syria to the late Massid and Afefe (Faris) Karoue, he worked as a Maitre d' at various restaurants in Canton for many years. He was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church and the Phoenician Club. He was a nice man to all he met. Louis is survived by his sister Noreen (Rafik) Abu-Zakhim, brothers Faris Karoue (fiancee Linda Carmen), Edward Karoue (fiancee Sherrie Jacobs), nephew David Abu-Zakhim, nieces Mary (Faris) Abu-Zakhim, Nour (Patrick) Kelly, great nieces and great nephews Nick Abu-Zakhim, Elias Abu-Zakhim, Miriam Abu-Zakhim, and Sophia Kelly. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 11 am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with services to follow at 11:00 am, Rev. Fr. Basil Shaheen officiating with Rev. Fr. Boulos Khayat assisting. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery.
