Luigi Gabriele, age 89 of Canton, passed away early Saturday morning. Born in Sora, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Madalena (D'Ambrosio) Gabriele, he was also preceded in death by his brother Domenico Antonio Gabriele. Luigi was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church. He loved his family, gardening, woodworking and was an expert handyman who could fix anything. He retired from LTV Steel after 37 years of service. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Pierina (Catallo) Gabriele, children; Helen and Antonio Mainella, Giulio and Georgene Gabriele, Rose and Michael Foti, seven grandchildren; Alessandra (Mario) Palmieri, Roberta Mainella (Giovanni Magnani), Amanda and Vanessa Gabriele, Grant, Parker and Jade Foti, great-grandchildren Miro and Nikola. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Little Flower Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00, Rev. Fr. Leo Wehrlin celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Luigi's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Joseph Senior Living.
