IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret (Sanchez)
Conde
December 10, 1927 – July 20, 2025
Margaret (Sanchez) Conde passed away peacefully and with the same dignity and quiet way she lived her life surrounded by family on Sunday, July 20, 2025. She was born in Canton, Ohio on December 10, 1927 to Spanish immigrants Claudino and Angela (Diaz) Sanchez. She was baptized in St. Benedict's Catholic Church and was married to Alfonso "Pete" Conde on May 3, 1947 also in St. Benedict's.
Margaret was a proud graduate of Timken Vocational High School class of 1945 in Cosmetology. She worked as a cosmetologist her entire life; having worked in the Salon at Halle Brothers in downtown Canton and in her home-based breezeway shoppe in the family home in the NE end of Canton for 50 years.
Margaret was a life-time member of the Spanish American Center, its affiliated Women's Club, and Retiree's Club. She learned to sew from family friend Maria Tornero. Margaret also knitted many beanie hats, baby booties, and afghans. Her broasted chicken, arroz con pollo, rice pudding, Easter lemonada, Lady Finger cookies, and lime Jell-O salad were always family favorites.
Margaret and Pete were the envy of anyone watching them on the dance floor with "Blue Spanish Eyes," "Return to Me," "My Way," "Moonlight Serenade," and any song they could "jitter-bug" to being some of their favorites. They enjoyed Friday nights at Lucia's on Mahoning Rd. with Tom and Bev Kell and traveling all over before Pete's passing in 2000.
Margaret carried on without Pete by hosting family holidays and three Destin summer family vacations, numerous trips to Dayton/Cincinnati area and Florida, including a record three times to DisneyWorld in her 90th year! She enjoyed attending Grandchildren's various sports and school events at Central Catholic, GlenOak, Bowling Green, Mount Union, and Muskingum, Tuesday shopping and Wendy's with Bev, dancing at Polish American Club with "Brother Binto" on Wednesdays, card playing on Mondays and Thursdays with North Canton Y seniors, and Fridays with Spanish Retirees at Mayfield and VFW. Margaret also enjoyed her friends from Red Hat Society, her Cosmo Girls lunches, and never missed Class of '45 reunions (even the virtual 75th in 2020!).
Predeceased by her mother Angela (1977), father Claudino (1984), husband Pete (2000), brothers Felipe Sanchez (1984) and Angelo "Binto" Sanchez (2019).
Survived by her son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Kathy Conde and her daughter and son-in-law Denise and Tom Darnley. Six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Phil and Kylie Conde (Zoe and Paxton), Brian and Kim Conde (Caden, Bryn Margaret, and Noelle), Christopher and Erinn Conde (Camille and Drew), Michelle and Frank Cappo (Vincent), James and Kayley Darnley (Natalie), and Angela and Austin Wilkinson. Beloved Tia Margaret to Sanchez nieces Claudia Olivieri and Melanie Capuano and family. Also beloved Tia to Conde nephews and nieces Dick (Karen), Alma (Dave) Pellegrini, Bob (who was also her Godson), Paul (Jill) Gambone, Chip (Kathy), Mark (Linda) Gambone and all their families. The Family extends great appreciation to all the wonderful staff, caretakers, and volunteers at the Danbury Sanctuary Grande, the wonderful Absolute Hospice staff, and the families of those who reside in mom's SG neighborhood, many of whom became friends since February, 2023.
Beloved Wife/Margarita/Mom/Gran/GiGi/Sis/Tia/Amiga - names by which Margaret Sanchez Conde will be remembered always as extraordinary and never forgotten. And now wholly restored in body, mind, and spirit in Heaven to enjoy eternity dancing in Heaven where everyone will say, "she is so sweet!"
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your personal choice in memory of Margaret Conde.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Saturday, July 26 from 9:30-11 a.m. Funeral services to begin at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
