Obituary

Marlene G. Mattachione Capuano, age 71 of Perry Township passed away, on Monday, April 20 at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Canton, Ohio on June 6, 1943 to Joseph Peppy Mattachione and Mary Eremita Mattachione. After 30 years of service to Perry Local Schools Marlene retired as District Transportation Supervisor. Many Perrites will certainly remember her as coming to their assistance in scheduling safe bus stops for the special cargo that she called "our Perry kids". A 1961 graduate of Perry High School. She became one of the most avid supporters of the Perry School District. She often said that Perry Colors must surely run in her veins. She was a current member of the Perry Local School Board having been elected to several terms and past Board President. Marlene was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was an active supporter and volunteer worker with the Richville Community Park Bingo "clan". She held chairmanship positions and volunteered her time with the Stark County Italian Festival Foundation. With her many friends she enjoyed traveling to Casinos, Playing Cards and loved the spirit and decorations of the Christmas Holidays with her family and friends. She was a valued friend to all who met her. Marl was first in line when it came time to play and always first in line when it came to work on a job that was to be done. She was preceded in death by her father, Peppy Mattachione. She leaves to celebrate her life, her 98 year old mother Mary Eremita Mattachione. Her beloved 3 sons, Vince Capuano (Laura) of New Hampshire, Dude Capuano (Sophie) of Canton, John Capuano (Annette) of Perry Township. Brother Louie Mattachione (Frank Trace) of Perry Township. She worshiped her grandchildren, Anthony, Aly, Joey, Ana, Katie, Vincie, Alexandria and Victoria. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be sent in her name to THE PERRY ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP FUND: PO BOX 1371 – Massillon, Ohio 44648 or to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Friends may gather at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Friday from 10:30 am till 12:30 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 pm at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. G. David Weikart celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to Dr. Kiki Norch, the staff of Mercy Medical and the helping hands of the great staff at Altercare of Nobles Pond.
