On Friday, February 24, 2023, Maroula (Mary) Mottas closed this chapter of earthly life and stepped across the threshold into eternity.

Loving daughter to her late parents, Pete and Despina Kotanides. Mary married Andy Mottas in 1951. Andy's unexpected death occurred on October 30, 1983. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Sophia, Parthena, brother John, a baby sister in Greece, sister-in-law Evelyn, sister-in-law Katherine, brother-in-law Paul, and nephews Peter John and Theo.

Survivors include three devoted sons, Keith (Barbara), Andrew, and Peter. Her beloved grandchildren, Althea (Ryan), Nick (Lauren), Alyssa (Nick), and Alexa. Her great grandchildren, Addison Faith, Stella Grace, and Leland Marley. Her sister Elbus (Chris) Kellamis. Her nieces Karen, Nikki, Daunia, Christine, Flora, Shayla, Natalia, and Sophia. Her nephews Karl, John Jr., John, Jimmy, Paul, Troy, Reid, Christian, Leander, Ariston, and Greyson. Her Godchildren Aris and Louis. Many special friends, especially Robin, Pat, Toni, Anna. She was devoted to all of them.

Maroula was a 1943 graduate of Timken vocational High School. She was a proud home maker to her family and devoted wife. She walked through life with humility, dignity, and grace, always considering the feelings of others ahead of her own. Strong in faith, service to God, and to her Greek Orthodox Church. Her love of God and unwavering faith carried with her until the end. A lifetime member of the Koraes Ladies Society and Holy Trinity Seniors Club. Maroula was an avid reader, world traveler, card player, and very interested in many artistic, creative activities she pursued throughout her lifetime.

There will be visitation Saturday one hour prior (12 noon) to the 1:00 pm funeral service with the Rev. Nick Halkias officiating. The funeral will take place at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4705 Fairhaven Ave NW Canton, OH 44709. Internment will follow the funeral at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maroula's name may be made to the Holy Trinity Senior Citizens Club or the Holy Trinity Koraes Ladies Society.

As many of you know our mothers organizational skills and her love of her family, she wrote this obituary 4 years ago to help us. A few deaths and a few births since she wrote this. Never a selfish moment or thought with her, always thinking of how she could make life easier for others.
