Mary L. Destefano, age 96, of Canton, peacefully transitioned into Heaven's glory at her home on Monday, January 15, 2024. We imagine it was a grand celebration reunion with her beloved parents, siblings, husband, children, family, and friends. She was born in Middlebranch, Ohio, on July 2, 1927, to the late Vincenzio and Antoinetta (Girardi) Costello. Mary was employed by K-Mart and later owned and operated Destefano's Catering, Kozy Korner, and Destefano's Pizza. A former member of Canton St. Paul, she was currently a member of Christ the Servant Parish. She always enjoyed gambling, dancing, and cooking –and especially family gatherings making delicious food for her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Destefano; children Stephanie Miller, Dino Destefano, and Dina Sprague; brothers Tony and Leonard Costello; and sisters, Fermina Moore and Arbenia Martino.

Mary is survived by her children John (Mary) Destefano of Alliance, Nick (Debbie) Destefano of Akron, Steve (Maria) Destefano of Canton, Annette Destefano of Canton, and George (Averie) Destefano of Louisville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings Nick (Sandy) Costello, Ed Costello, Shirley (Gino) Picone, all of Canton, and Nancy Houck of Wadsworth.

Family and friends will be received at Christ the Servant Parish on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will begin in the church at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Scott Kopp as celebrant. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
