Mary D. "Katie" Hines, age 74, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 in her home. Katie was born on December 31, 1947 in Canton. Katie was a 1965 graduate of Glenwood High School and a 1969 graduate of Hillsdale College. Katie enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, travel, fine dining and celebrating Christmas every day of the year. Katie loved to play golf and bridge and was a member of Arrowhead Country Club, Alliance Country Club, Congress Lake Country Club and The American Contact Bridge League. Katie was an accomplished chef, having attended the Zona Spray Cooking School, the Western Reserve School of Cooking, and LaVarenne at The Greenbriar. Katie dearly loved all her pets during the years; Sally, Rocky, Clint, Chaco, Duncan, Lucy Lu, Boogie and especially her favorite Stewart Francis Lovebug Hines. Katie is survived by her husband David and Boogie. Per Katie's wishes cremation has taken place. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made in Katie's name to the Stark County Humane Society.
