IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Elizabeth
(Tatum) Case
March 22, 1955 – September 26, 2025
Mary Elizabeth (Tatum) Case, age 70, of Canton, passed away September 26, 2025, at The Laurels of Massillon. She was born in Olney, Illinois, a daughter to the late Lee Robert and Betty Tatum, both from Sherman, Texas. Mary Beth moved to Canton in 1969 and continued her education at Oakwood High School, graduating with the class of 1973.
After high school, Mary Beth went on to attend Kent State University where she studied General Education. In 1986, she worked for TATCO, her father's Oil and Gas drilling company, as his bookkeeper/secretary, until he retired the company in late 1989. She then went on to work for Di-Walt Optical as a bookkeeper, until she left the company in the summer of 2001. In 2002, Mary Beth returned to Kauffman's Dept Store, where she had previously worked for a brief time, until her retirement from Macy's (formerly The May Company/Kauffman's) in May 2016. Here, she made many new friendships working as an associate in China and Housewares, as well as running the Bridal Registry.
Mary Beth had a remarkable personality that brought joy to everyone around her. Her warmth and enthusiasm for meeting new people created lasting connections, and she had a unique ability to leave a positive impression on those she encountered. Her dedication to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild was evident in the way she prioritized being there for them, showing her love and support every step of the way. Mary Beth will always be remembered by everyone as "Grand Mary". Not only to her grandchildren, but to everyone who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her caring spirit will always be remembered.
Mary Beth was deeply cherished and is now reunited with her loving parents, Lee Robert and Betty (Christian) Tatum, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children, Benjamin (Jennifer) Lazar, of Medina, Ohio, Bonnie Case and Mary Caroline (Derek) Schoeneman, both of Canton, Ohio; brothers, Robert Stephen (Kathryn) Tatum, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Christopher (Margaret) Tatum, of Lewiston, Michigan; sisters Patricia "Pooch" Tatum Bandsuch, of Berea, Ohio; and Roberta "Robbie" Tatum Joy, of Howell, Michigan. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Callieah (Kohl) Craig, Gavin Schoeneman, Caden Schoeneman, Connor Lewis, Benjamin Lazar ll, Andrew Lazar, Joshua Lazar, and Coralee Burns; and one great- grandchild, Kash Craig.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 5 to 5:45 p.m. A memorial service will begin in the funeral home at 6 p.m.
