Obituary

The beautiful soul of Mary Hadjian has been reunited in heaven with her Maker, on January 26, 2025. She was born in Canton, Ohio on November 24, 1932, to George and Irene Vaitsis. Mary was the fourth of five children.

Mary's deepest desire was to be a mother. She fulfilled this role with patience, kindness and encouragement, but most of all, with unconditional love. She was filled with generosity and compassion, never becoming jaded through time. All of those who met her described her as sweet and loving and friends of her children sometimes remarked that they wished that she had been their mother. She exuded love.

Mary graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1950 having completed courses in cosmetology. She decided against the pursuit of this field and found her niche in banking. She was employed by Harter Bank, which changed names throughout the years. As a teller, she worked her way through the ranks to assistant manager. Mary loved working with numbers, but mostly, she enjoyed working with the public because she loved people.

In her latter years, she left banking to pursue a more lucrative position. She took a job with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, retiring with fourteen years of service. Despite it being a better position, she missed her career in banking, where her personality shone working with the public.

Mary wed her husband, John Harry Hadjian, in 1954. They immediately left Canton, Ohio to live in Hollywood, California. Four years later, their first child Kinthea, was born. In 1962, Haricklia Maria joined the family. They lived in the Los Angeles area for twelve years before returning to Canton, where she resided for the remainder of her life.

She was an exceptionally talented seamstress, creating masterpieces that were as beautiful on the inside as they were on the outside. Lined jackets, men's tailored shirts, Christmas apparel and prom dresses with hand stitching, were all meticulously sewn with love. She was so proficient that she sometimes did not use a pattern or would design one herself.

Mary was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. She was a fantastic cook, preparing nutritious meals from scratch, often using produce from her husband's extensive garden. Her creativity was boundless – hanging wallpaper, stripping woodwork, painting walls and repairing home appliances without any formal training. Her ability could compete with any interior designer. She took pride in all of her undertakings and her drive was to create a home filled with love. She exceeded all expectations, by anyone's standards. She was a trend setter of class and style.

Eternal gratitude to Sean Ruth, Haricklia's fiance', for his endless support and love and to all of the friends, especially from Cross Pointe Church in Canton, who supported Mary during her lengthy illness. Thank you will never suffice.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband John (2013) of 59 years, her parents George and Irene Vaitsis and her sisters Nicholet and Katherine Vaitsis and Elpinickie "Nickie" Simitacolos. She is survived by brother Anthony "Tony" Vaitsis, daughters Haricklia Maria Hadjian (Sean Ruth), Kinthea (Steve) Cooper, grandsons Sean (Jamie) Cooper, Christopher (Emily) Cooper, and four great grandchildren.

Rest bathed in eternal love, dear lady. YOU ARE EXCEPTIONAL. Services are private. No cards, flowers, phone calls or visits, please. She will be interred at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton, Ohio.
