Michael J. Blate, age 53 of North Canton, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 22, 1964. Mike was a 1982 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and attended Walsh University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Management and Finance. He was a self-employed owner of IPG Global Marketing and Slick Woody's Corn Hole Company. Mike was a member of St. Paul Catholic Parish and was a leader in the EDGE program. He loved all sports and in particular Walsh University basketball, and previously coached his boys in football at Jackson Pee Wee Football League and St. Michael. He is preceded in death by his mother Jeannene Blate. Mike is survived by his wife Cathy; father Steven Blate; children Danny (Brigitte) Evans, Brian Evans and Taylor Blate; step-children Adam and Alyssa Pappas; sister Michele Blate, and brother Greg (Cathi) Blate. Also survived by grandchildren Brodey Gandee, Hannah and Lillian Evans, and Johnathan Misko; and nephews and niece Greg and Tim Smith, and Jenna and David Blate. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Parish at 10 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Jay Clark as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jeannene Blate Memorial Fund at St. Paul Catholic Parish.
