Michael A. Hedrick, age 69, born in Canton, March 18, 1946 to the late John and Victoria Hedrick. Passed away July 2, 2015 of cardiac arrest. Preceded in death b y his parents and brother Gene Hedrick. Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol, daughter Kristin, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Laura Hedrick, granddaughter Taylor Hedrick, brother John Hedrick, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jack and Mary Greene and Jim and Sue Greene. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Michael attended St. Benedict's Elementary and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964. He obtained his B.S. Degree from Kent State University and his Master's degree from Dayton. He became a Speech Therapist for Canton City Schools, teaching 36 years. During this time he mentored and served as role model to thousands of Canton youth as a football coach at McKinley from 1973 – 1990 and Timken from 1992 – 2001, serving as head coach for 4 seasons. He also coached 2 seasons at Canton South and one at Northwest High Schools. Michael was a long-time member of the Stark County Coaches Association, a Trustee for the HOF Luncheon Club, member of the Romanian Carpathians Men's Club, and a Trustee and Past President of the Canton Ex-Newsboys Association. He dedicated countless hours with the Ex-Newsies raising money for the youth of our community. He also had a passion for golfing, gardening, and cooking. Calling hours will be held at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, Monday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Family and friends will meet at St. Benedict's Church on Tuesday at 11:00 am for a funeral mass, Rev. Fr. Benson Okpara celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Canton Ex-Newsboys Association.
