Michael M. (Mike) Labriola, Sr. age 88, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016. Born on November 1, 1927, he was a life resident of Canton, Ohio and had attended McKinley High School. He went into the U.S. Army on December 11, 1945 and went to Germany in February 1946. He was honorably discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey on June 13, 1947. Mike retired on November 30, 1990 from Sirpilla RV Center. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood Lodge No. 225. An avid sport fan, he played fumbleball from 1947-1966, and was inducted into the Canton Amateur Fumbleball Hall of Fame in 1989. Mike also played basketball, and was inducted into the Canton Amateur Basketball Hall of Fame on May 11, 1993. He had 3 hole-in-ones – one at Shady Hollow in 1976 and two others at Skyland Pines in May of 1993 and 2003; he won a Class A Golf Championship, a Pre Senior Championship, and a Senior Championship. His parents were the late Giovanni and Grace Labriola; he was also preceded in death by his wife Delores, brother Joe Labriola, and two sisters Phyllis Digiantonio and Gloria Stuhldreher. He is survived by his sons Mike (Holly) Labriola, of Louisville, and John (Becky) Labriola, of North Canton. Also survived by brother Tony (Joanne) Labriola, of Canton; grandchildren Kimberly Labriola, Erica Labriola, Cassie (Brad) Whitman, Tiffany Labriola, and Megan (Chris) MacAfee; and two great-grandchildren Derek and Logan Whitman. Family and friends will be received on Monday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m at St. Anthony/All Saints Parish, with Rev. Fr. Thomas Kraszewski officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony/All Saints Parish. The family would like to thank the nurses of Aultman Hospital, Dr. Lawrence Penvose and the assistance and care at Bethany Nursing Home.
