MICHAEL MARION SANTANGELO " MR. MIKE"
Michael M. Santangelo, age 87, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, following a brief illness at Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Myers, FL. Born June 3, 1928 in Canton, OH. He was preceded in death by father: Sabatino Santangelo, mother: Vincenza Santangelo, sons: Craig and Christian Santangelo, brothers: Ralph, Oliver and Dominick, sisters: Ann, Joane and Elaine.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Martha Santangelo, son, Michael (Karen) Santangelo, stepchildren: Mark (Laura) Thompson, Diane (Dave) Steinbach, Lowell (Karen) Thompson, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, special friends, Terry Baker and Charlotte Swegheimer. Michael was also known by Mr. Mike from his catering business Mr. Mike's. Cooking was one of his favorite passions which wasn't limited to catering. The Salvation Army held a special place in his heart and he donated meals weekly to help the homeless in Canton. Mike was a man who believed in giving back as well as being actively involved in the community of Canton. He was a 1946 graduate of Lincoln High School and an Army veteran. Mike was a member of St. Anthony's parish and contributed to the catholic charities. He also took part in helping with the Hall of Fame breakfast for many years. Mike was an avid sports fan of the Browns, Indians and Cavs. When a game was being played, you knew he was either attending, watching the tv or listening to the game. He was a creative man who had the view that there wasn't any repair he couldn't tackle. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 31, at Rossi Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held from 9am-11am. The graveside service will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Monsignor Lewis Gaetano. Following the graveside service, friends and family are invited to gather at Meyer's Lake Ballroom. Luncheon will be served at 1pm.
