NORMA K. (BOWMAN) PURYEAR, age 74 of North Canton, passed away Wednesday afternoon. Born in Canton to the late Norman K. and Catherine E. Bowman, she was preceded in death by her brother Norman K. Bowman. Norma was an avid pistol and rifle shooter. She was a life member of the NRA, life member of the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association and treasurer of many years, life member of the Canton McKinley Rifle and Pistol Club, and the Firestone Pistol Club treasurer for many years. Norma shot at national pistol matches for many years. She was the State Women's Pistol Champion for many years and received the Women's Pistol Shooter of the Year Award. She loved to read, nature study of birds and beasts, and her devoted cats. Norma was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 53 years David R. Puryear and her loyal cats, Harley and Huffy. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 3:00pm and Monday from 12 noon to 2:00 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Memorial Services will follow at 2:00 pm Monday with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
