March 2, 1932 – July 13, 2018
Norma Jean Gialluca, age 86 of Canton, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018. She was born in Canton to the late Paul and Lucia Gialluca. Norma Jean was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School; she retired in 2002 from Canton City Council after many years of service. Norma Jean was a member of the Palace Theater Association, Canton Preservation Society, Order Sons of Italy Ben V. Marconi Lodge #1628, Eagles McKinley Auxiliary #2370, American Legion Post #44, VFW 3747 and the Jefferson Jackson Club. She enjoyed traveling west every year with Jay in their motorhome; she loved Wyoming and always said that the best way to see the country was by traveling in a motorhome. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and spouses Dominic (Mary), Joseph (Molly), Vincent (Rose), Anthony (Jenny) and John; sisters and spouses Ann Compsia, Rose (Julie) Ciprian and Elina (John) Leon; and fiance Julio (Jay) Garcia. Norma Jean is survived by sister-in-law Helen Gialluca; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her caregiver for the past 16 years, Sandy Melchior. Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at Christ the Servant Parish (Our Lady of Peace) at 11 a.m., with Msgr. Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Bethany Nursing Home.
