Olga (Tender) Michalos, age 89 of Canton, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, April 13 at Aultman Hospital surrounded by her family. Olga was born October 2, 1925 in Lorain, Ohio, the daughter of the late Peter and Christina (Theophelis) Tender. She was a graduate of Lorain High School and a 1948 graduate of Denison University where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Lula Cardasis, Zenia Negris and brother John Tender. On April 30, 1950, she married George Michalos and they celebrated their 60 ^th wedding anniversary on April 30, 2010. Survivors include her loving husband George and their two beloved sons and their lovely wifes and children, Dr. Peter and Carolyn (Fakelis) and their daughters Leah and Sarah (David) Rispinto and great-grandson Anthony Peter Rispinto, Dr. Phillip and Della (Fenn) and their children Elizabeth (Jonathan) Morris, Christina and George. Olga was an active member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church where she was a member of the Church's Ladies Philoptochos Society and Senior Citizens Club. She served as a Sunday School teacher for 12 years and in 1990 was the recipient of the Faithful Service Award presented by the Church. St. Haralambos Church honored her as one of the first recipients of the Women of Distinction Award. She was also a member of the Daughters of Penelope. Besides her Church work, she was a member of the Canton Women's Club and the Canton Symphony League, having served as a Board Member of both organizations. She was also a member and served as President of the Arboretum Garden Club, and a member of the McKinley Museum Auxiliary and the Canton Chapter of Eastern Star. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home where Trisasgion Services will be held at 7:30 pm. Funeral Services will be Friday at 1:00 pm at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating and assisted by Rev. Fr. Dean Dimon, her nephew. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church.
