Pamela A. (Purses) Hughes, age 73 of Canton, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was born in Canton on February 3, 1945 to the late Sam and Clare (Vitale) Purses. Pam was a Central Catholic High School graduate; she was employed by the the Hoover Company for twenty years, and then went on to retire from the Stark County Auditor as the Administrative Assistant. Pam was a member of Christ the Servant Catholic Parish, enjoyed shopping and loved helping people and children. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-seven years, Dan Hughes; children Daniel (Diana) Hughes of Cincinnati, Tammy (Michael) of Texas, and Tiffany Hughes of Canton; grandchildren Samantha, Callan (Kelly), Christopher and Madison; great-grandchildren Kady and Skylar. Also survived by brothers and sisters Sam (Teresa) Purses, Leona (Jeff) Orin, Debbie (Pete) Ferguson, Vicki (Steve) Ashbaugh, and Rick (Pam) Purses; sister-in-law Patricia McHenry; brother-in-law Bob (Donna) Hughes; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at Christ the Servant Catholic Parish at 11 a.m., with Msgr. Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Interment will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center or to Stark County Children's Network (213 Market Ave. N. #200 Canton, Ohio 44702).
