Parthena Kotanides (Miss Pat) age 87 passed away Wednesday June 5 ^th following an extended illness. She was born April 1, 1926 in Canton to the late Despina and Pete Kotanides. She graduated from McKinley High School, class of 1944. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sophia. Parthena was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the Koraes Ladies Society and the Seniors Club of the Church. She was Superintendent and taught Sunday School, and was affectionately called "Miss Pat', also honored as Woman of the Year in 1983 at the Community Banquet. She was employed by the Boy Scouts of America for forty years. Parthena was a gentle, quiet, kind, generous, hard working person who loved bowling, crafts and was an avid reader. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law Maroula Mottas and Elbus (Chris) Kellamis and her brother and sister-in-law John (Evelyn ) Kotanides, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and three God children who all were her source of great pride. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 10 to 11am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with services at 11am with Rev. Dr. Dan Rogich officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christian Fund or the church Sunday School at 4705 Fairhaven Ave. N.W. Canton,Ohio 44709 or to the Boy Scouts of America, Buckeye Council, 2301- 13 ^th St. N.W. Canton, Ohio 44708. The family sincerely thanks the staff at St. Luke Lutheran Community who gave her compassion and affection while in their care. Go in peace, dear sister, aunt and friend.
