IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul N.
Shaheen
April 22, 1956 – May 6, 2025
In the Orthodox faith, when we lose a loved one, we often say, "May their memory be eternal." With our Jiddo, father, husband, brother, and son—there is no doubt that his will be.
Paul Shaheen wasn't just a person; he was a way of life. Because of that, his memory will, without a doubt, be eternal.
Paul Shaheen was born on April 22, 1956, to Rosemary and Nicholas Shaheen. In high school Paul was a proud member of the marching band, playing trumpet and singing in the choir. He went on to study a variety of subjects in College while tending bar at the family's establishment, The Penguin, where he met what felt like half the population of Canton, Ohio.
After graduation, Paul pursued a master's degree in medical physics. He took his first job in Pennsylvania, where he met the love of his life, Claudia. After marrying, Paul was fortunate to secure a job back in his hometown of Canton, Ohio. It was there that he truly became the man we knew and loved.
Together with Claudia, he raised four children, finding joy in watching them grow and achieve their goals. Paul's motto was "Family first," and over time, that family grew to include not only his children's friends, but their families as well.
Paul will be remembered as a generous, strong, and good man. He found deep joy in being an active member of St. George Antiochian Church, a devoted band dad to his children in the Jackson band, the founder of HOF Medical Physics, and a member of Brookside Country Club. He enjoyed many hobbies, but some of his happiest moments were spent with his family on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Of all his accomplishments, his proudest was being a Jiddo, Arabic for grandfather, to Rowan, Navy, and Isla. Paul left this life having seen his greatest dreams come true: his children finding success in their careers, in their families, and in each other.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1118 Cherry Avenue NE, Canton, OH., and from 10-11am Friday. Funeral services on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11 am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Fr. Michael Corbin, Very Rev. Archpriest Michael G. Shaheen, and Rev. Fr. Basil Shaheen officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery, 7th Street NW, Canton.
Paul was very generous in his lifetime contributing to several charitable foundations. Wishes Can Happen, https://www.wishescanhappen.org Josette Beddell Memorial Foundation, https://www.josettememorial.org or Mark Prestier Memorial Fund, 1851 Markley St. NW, North Canton, OH 44720. Feel free to continue Paul's legacy and support any of these local foundations.
We love and miss you – Memory eternal
