Peter A. Bitzel Sr., age 92 of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday morning. Born in Akron, Ohio to the late Dominick and Edith (Capotosto) Buzzelli, he was preceded in death by his wife Theresa (Volpe) Bitzel, daughter Katherine Speros, and brother Dominick Bitzel. Peter was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and a member of St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Church. He retired from Bitzel Excavating in 1994. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Peter is survived by his children Peter (Lorie) Bitzel, Jr. of Naples, Florida, Richard (Kathy) Bitzel of Massillon, Linda Petros of Mint Hill, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters Donna Myers of Waynesburg, Shirley (Jim) Udeck of Canton, and Gloria Hillyer of Atwater, Ohio. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Masks are mandatory and social distancing will be observed. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Tom Kraszewski as celebrant. The funeral mass will be live streamed on the St. Anthony/All Saints Facebook page. Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery.
