Obituary

Philip (Cookie) El Faye, age 80 of Canton, passed away August 24, 2018 after a brief illness. Cookie was born in Canton on July 25, 1938 to the late Sam and Mildred (George) El Faye. He was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired employee of the U.S. Post office, where he was employed for 38 years. Cookie was a long-time member of the Hall of Fame Fitness Center. He enjoyed race tracks and casinos, watching his grandchildren play sports and especially spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Cookie was preceded in death by his twin infant sons Matthew and John and brother Alan. He is survived by his loving wife, of 56 years, Alice (Marks) of the home; three sons Samuel (Heather) El Faye, Nicholas El Faye and Theodore (Tammy) El Faye all of Canton; six grandchildren Teddy, Tommy, Nicholas, Philip, Madeleine and Samantha. Daughter in law Debbi Gross; and Cookie also leaves behind his dear friend Jim (Shish) Tomey. Family and friends will be received Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursdays morning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or Breast Cancer Foundation, in Cookie's memory.
