Rachel "Rae" V. (Recchio) Whitacre, age 90 of Minerva, passed away early Saturday morning. Born in Canton to the late Anthony and Palma (Gambone) Recchio, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Frank Whitacre, son James Costello, brother Frank Recchio, and sisters Diana Recchio and Theresa Devies. She was a 1950 graduate of Timken Vocational High School where she was the class valedictorian. Rae retired from Alliance Community Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department, and was the co-owner of Interstate Glass Company. She was also a member of St. Anthony/All Saints Parish.

Rae is survived by her children Barbara (William) Thomas of Minerva, OH, Carol (Tim) Snyder of Los Angeles, CA, Anthony (Johanna) Costello of Green, OH, and three grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial to follow at St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Church at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Tom Kraszewski as celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rae's name, may be made to St. John's Villa in Carrollton, OH.
