Obituary

Ralph Tay Dolph passed away on January 17, 2022 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. He was 75. He was born on November 7, 1946, in Canton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School and remained an avid McKinley Bulldog fan throughout his life (with Bulldog tattoos to prove it). He married Lois Plumb in 1965 and worked in the steel industry, retiring from Republic Steel after a more than 30 year-career. Tay played men's softball and baseball throughout his adult life and was a member of the 50-Plus Canton Grand Slam USA Baseball Champion team in 1997. He also played in the Massillon Old Tigers 50-Plus League. He loved sports of all kinds and loved to watch his grandchildren play sports including wrestling, football, basketball, baseball, track, and more. He enjoyed listening to Neil Young music and served in the U.S. Army as a cook based in Columbia, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Artaygo and Ethel B. Dolph; his sister, Barbara Dolph; and his nephew, Steven S. ("Scotty") Schering. He was a part of a large extended family including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his sisters Betsy Dolph Kesler and Peggy Dolph Phillips (Sam); his three children, Brian A. Dolph; Richard Tay Dolph (Karen); and Desiree Dolph Dowd (Skip); He had seven grandchildren who affectionately called him "Popo": Hannah, Sarah, Rachel, Mario, Sid, Emma, and A.J. (Artaygo). He also had two great-grandchildren, Connor and Cole. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
