Raymond C. Bongini Jr., age 79, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was born on November 6, 1942 in Canton to the late Raymond C. Sr. and Emma Mae Bongini. Ray was a graduate of Canton South High School. Ray lived in Massillon and was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church. He retired in 2006 after 50 plus years as an electrician working for Canton Electric, Hilscher Clarke, and Abbott Electric. Ray served as an Electrician Mate 1st Class for 4 ½ years on the USS Halsey DLG23 during the Vietnam War and 15 ½ years active reserve including Desert Storm. He loved being around his grandchildren, history, and was an accomplished artist. Ray was the kind of man that was always giving a helping hand. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He is survived by his children Claudena (Jason) Coulter of Florida, Raymond C. (Mary) Bongini III of New Philadelphia, Lana (Ken) Craft of Florida, Alicia (Ray Sanchez) Bongini of Canton, Rachel Bongini of Columbus, grandchildren Zachary, Kaley (Jayme), Hannah, Julia (Ronnie), Jake, Ty, Dash, Olivia (Brandon), Jordan, Danielle, Amalie, six great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Anna Armstrong of Georgia, Claudia (John) Smith of Massillon, Mary Kay (Tim Humbert) Bongini of North Canton, and former spouse Vivian (Bongini) Chavez, and Lucky is still Lucky. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with services to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
