Richard "Dick" J. Mitchell age 80 of Canton, passed away Monday morning. Born in Canton to the late Thomas and Rose (Simon) Mitchell, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Betty Jean (Scipione) Mitchell and brother Mike Mitchell. Dick was a 1956 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and an Army veteran. He retired in 1997 from the Timken Company, Gambrinus Bearing Division, after 41 years as a machine operator. He is survived by his sons Jeff Mitchell, John (Dona) Mitchell, granddaughter Cassandrah (Dan) Godbout, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, brothers Jim (Janice) Mitchell, Gene (Elaine) Mitchell. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday at 11:30 am in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Edward Beneleit officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
