RICHARD J. SCHMID, age 67 of Canton, passed away Friday evening July 11, 2014. He was a graduate of Glenwood High School and a Navy veteran. Richard was working as a graphic artist for Genie Overhead Door Company for the past 15 years. Preceded in death by his son Richard J. Schmid Jr. and father Donald Schmid. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Sophia (Serblic) Schmid, daughters Nicole (Matthew) Smeyres, Megan and Stephanie Schmid, April Gulling, mother Norma Schmid, three grandchildren, one brother and two sisters and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 5 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with a celebration of life to follow at 5:00pm, Rev. Jeff Shultz officiating.
