Obituary

Richard “Rich” D. Stolicny, age 81, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Born in Canton to the late Elmer and Dorothy (Ferris) Stolicny, Richard was also preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Stolicny. A graduate of McKinley High School, Rich proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and carried that pride in his service throughout his life.

Rich built a successful career through hard work, determination, and an entrepreneurial spirit. He spent many years as a Sales Manager for J.B. McCoy Company before becoming self-employed. He owned and operated All In One Food Store in Akron and Pizza & Things in Canton, where he enjoyed serving his community and building lasting friendships with customers and neighbors alike.

While Rich enjoyed gardening, trips to the casino, and spending time with family and friends, nothing brought him greater pride and happiness than being “Papal” to his beloved granddaughter, Siena Williamson. He cherished every moment spent with Siena, celebrating her accomplishments, sharing laughter, and creating memories that he treasured deeply. Being her grandfather was one of the greatest joys and proudest blessings of his life. He also shared a special bond with his grandpup, Sophia. In his final days, Sophia rarely left his side, a faithful companion whose love and devotion brought him comfort until the very end.

Rich was also a devoted Ohio sports fan. He faithfully cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and, despite the occasional heartbreak and plenty of stress along the way, the Cleveland Browns. Whether celebrating victories or enduring tough seasons, his loyalty to his teams never wavered. Game days were often filled with excitement, spirited conversations, and plenty of passion.

Rich is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, JoAnn (Petitti) Stolicny; daughters, Tammy and Monica Stolicny; granddaughter, Siena Williamson; and brothers, Bobby and Terry Stolicny.

A private family service will be held in his honor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Richard’s memory.
