Obituary

Robert E. Pedersen passed away on October 29, 2018. "Bob" was born in Canton, Ohio on October 31, 1929 to the late Lourena Stephens and Robert Pedersen, Sr. He graduated from McKinley High School in Canton (1947). He was an apprentice Tool and Die Maker at General Electric in Bridgeport, CT. He attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute, Bullard Haven Trade School, the University of California and Kent State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Misawa, Japan during the Japanese Occupation and in Kunsan, Korea during the Korean War. He was the Chief Tool and Die Engineer and was elected an ESOP Administrator for Republic Storage Systems Co. He worked within the Tool and Die field and Machine Design for numerous companies both local and out-of-state as either an employee or free lancer. He was most proud of his reputation among his peers. A life member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton, a life member of VFW Post 3747 and a member of Cooties Pup Tent 007, Korean War Veterans Association #81, American Legion Post #44, and the Greater Canton Veterans Council. His hobby was genealogy and he provided many relatives, friends and others with charts of the ancestors. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Dena Pedersen (DeChiara), a lovely daughter Karen Marie Pedersen, a sister Delores and brother-in-law Mike Labriola, and a brother Richard and sister-in-law Jean Pedersen. Survived by his daughter Kathryn and son-in-law Mark Nodo of Columbus, OH; two granddaughters, Jamie and Jonathan Mallory of Pickerington, OH and Abby and Kevin Surbella of Worthington, OH; six great-grandchildren; Ethan, Connor and Ella Mallory and Reed, Arden and Mae Surbella; one brother-in-law Ralph DeChiara, two sisters-in-law Monique DeChiara and Gloria DeChiara, two special nieces Dayna Sells and Belinda Mach. Also, survived by 11 cousins, 24 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, a great-great-great niece, and a great-great-great nephew. Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please enjoy a leisurely meal in his memory.
