Robert A. Porter Sr, age 81 of Canton, passed away Monday afternoon at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bellaire, OH to the late Ollie Oliver and Margaret (Lewis) Porter, he was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas and David Porter and sister Darlene Swearengin. Robert was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and an avid golfer. He served in the Air Force for four years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Janet I. (Andriola) Porter, children Robert (Jennie) Porter, Jr, Steven (Pam) Porter, Lorraine (Eric) Sommer, Margaret (Ken) Frease, eleven grandchildren; Danny (Cindy) Porter, Nathan (Juli) Porter, Gregory Porter, Jeff (Katy) Porter, Steve (Marlo) Porter, Rachel (Corey) Hunka, Amanda (Tony) Snively, Brad Sommer, Kenny (Emily) Frease, Marie (Ryan) Crabtree, Katy Frease and eight great-grandchildren and his lifelong friend Ron Blackledge. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Degenhard for his many years of dedicated care for our husband, father and grandfather. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. G. David Weikart celebrant.
