Robert C. Scafate, Sr.

Robert Scafate, age 91, of Canton passed away early Saturday morning, October 8, 2016 in the Astoria Skilled Nursing Facility. Born in Canton, OH July, 16, 1925 to his parents the late Nunzio and Anna Scafate. Mr. Scafate was employed by Canton Malleable Iron Company and Served in the Navy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jennie Fernandez; brother, Joseph Scafate; and son-in-law Steven Rodman. Survived by his daughter Sandra Rodman of Plano, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, LaDene and Benjamin Curlutu of Massillon; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Beth Scafate of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, James Leonard and Theresa Scafate of Laytonsville, Maryland; son Michael Scafate of Massillon; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Benedict Fernandez. On Monday October 17, burial services will be held in St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Church in Canton to include calling hours from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.; followed by Mass of Christian Burial from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The procession will follow by Rossi Funeral Home to the burial grounds, Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman with Naval Services Honor presentation and burial to commence at 1:30 pm.
