IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Paul
Skolmutch
February 4, 1969 – September 28, 2015
Robert Paul Skolmutch, age 46, of Canton, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015 from a sudden illness.
A native of Plain Township, Rob spent more than half of his life serving the township and making a memorable impact on all that he met. He was a member of the Plain Township Fire Department and Paramedic Squad for 22 years, serving as Captain for 10 years. Most recently, Rob was IT Manager for Plain Township where he fulfilled multiple needs to support the township's operations. These skills and others made Rob a valued friend, co-worker and family member to all who called on him for help. He knew a little bit about everything and a lot about many things, which allowed him to support many people in times of need. Rob's sense of humor and kind nature were standout traits to all who knew him. He put these traits to work over the past few years when he began to enjoy golfing again as he coached his sons through the sport. Yet, above all of this, was Rob's greatest accomplishment – being a loving father for nearly 15 years.
Rob is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Marilyn Skolmutch, and his grandparents, Marion and Jennie Buffo and Maybelle Skolmutch. He is survived by his sons, Andrew and Chris Skolmutch; his siblings Vicki Kline (Scott), Jennifer Smith (Brandon), Susan Diuk and Jim Skolmutch (Aimee); and numerous nieces and nephews including Sarah Krammes (Lucas, Emily, Aubrie), Rebecca Forrer (David, Bennett), Lauren, Kristen and Nicholas Diuk, Allison and Natalie Skolmutch, and Jackson and Isabella Smith; and Andrew's mother Gina Westfall and his grandparents Joe and Vicki Scott.
Family and friends will be celebrating Rob's life with calling hours at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on Thursday, October 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Last Alarm ceremony will take place at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church on Friday, October 2 at 12:30 p.m., with Rev. Fr. Donald King as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Robert Skolmutch Memorial Fund at Plain Township Fire Department, 1742 Schneider NE, Canton, OH 44721.
