IN LOVING MEMORY OF

February 2, 1926 – January 17, 2015
Rose Kesel Mokodean, born February 2, 1926, died in her sleep on January 17, 2015. Rose was a graduate of Lincoln High School and the College of Wooster. She worked for five years in the editorial department of the Canton Repository, writing feature stories and handling the radio and television news. After leaving the Rep, she and her husband George, created the Canton Driving School where she taught for seventeen years. She was the first woman in Ohio to teach in a driving school. She had a number of hobbies, including gardening, art and literature and she was involved for many years in duplicate bridge. For over 45 years she was a member of the Canton Bridge Club and the McKinley Bridge Unit. Rose gave duplicate bridge lessons and for many years operated her own duplicate game. She wrote bridge columns which were published in The Repository for a number of years. A collection of her stories titled "A History of Canton Bridge Players, How They Played the Game" was published in 1999. It contained articles about more than 80 bridge players in this area. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, Arthur and Flora Kesel, by her sister, Lillian Larew, and two nephews, Chris and Guy Larew. She is survived by her two sons and their families, Louis, his wife, Olena, and their two sons Vlad and Aleks; and George David, his wife, Frances, and their children Gregory (Angela), Joseph (his fiancee, Loui), and Laura. She also has three nieces, Laura and Gabrielle Larew and Christine Golden, and one nephew, Michael Mokodean. She dearly loved them all and enjoyed playing cards with them and sometimes exchanging emails. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Forest Hill Cemetery.
