Rose A.Kotema, age 86 of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She was born in Canton on September 15, 1937 to the late Frank and Louise (Delillo) Spino. Rose was a graduate of McKinley High School and a member of St. Anthony Parish.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Nick Kotema, and siblings Andy Spino, Vincent Spino, and Barbara Wadsworth. Rose is survived by her children Tammy (Greg) Arrendale, Nick (Stephanie) Kotema, and Stephen (Diana) Kotema; five grandchildren Derek Kotema, Jared Kotema, Eric Tharp, Brandon Henry, and Taylor Gilles; one great-granddaughter Savannah Henry; and many nieces and nephews.

Rose was a devoted Catholic and would often be seen with her prayer book and rosary. She loved family gatherings especially at the holidays and loved summer picnics with her sister Barbara and her family. She was an avid McKinley Bulldog fan and never let anyone talk bad about them. She enjoyed cooking and baking and following the Italian traditions she inherited from her mom and dad. She loved going to Italian festivals and dancing the polkas with her husband Nick. Rose could be very feisty at times, but she was the most loving, caring, and giving person known. She would donate what ever she could to many Catholic charities throughout the U.S. and just about any young person knocking at the door to sell something. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and aides who took care of her for the last three years at the Amherst Meadows Nursing Facility, and the nurses and staff of Crossroads Hospice Care during her last few weeks of life.

Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services to begin in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
