It is with great sadness that the family of Rudolph (Rudy) P. Amatangelo announces his passing after a brief illness, on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 81. Rudy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte (Sainer) Amatangelo, his children; Yvonne [Jack] Neal, Russell [Joyce] Amatangelo, Reid Amatangelo, and his grandchildren; Ian Kulin, Shelby Amatangelo and Sierra Amatangelo. Rudy was a lifetime resident of Canton, Ohio. He attended Timken Vocational High School where he met his wife Charlotte Sainer. After graduation he worked at the Timken Company and served in the Ohio Army National Guard. In 1965 he joined Price Advertising and in 1972 started Rudy Amatangelo Advertising and Design. Rudy was active in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival for over 40 years designing and building award winning floats. Rudy was a long-time member of the Canton Ad Club, serving as president in 1977 and receiving multiple recognition's for his outstanding service to the advertising profession. Rudy became interested in watercolor painting while studying with the late Ellsworth Smith and Lowell Smith. He began teaching in 1970 and was known for his 3-day Visions Watercolor Workshops. He was active as a lecturer, show director, juror and judge to many art associations. He was a member of the Canton Artists League and his work was featured in local art galleries. Survived by brother and sisters; Roger [Carole] Amatangelo, Judy Villamagna, Carol Kisling, Linda Antonelli, Cindy Zino, sisters-in-law; Norma Amatangelo and Pam Amatangelo, brother-in-law; George Stepanovich, and many nieces and nephews. Rudy was predeceased by daughter; Emma Kathleen Amatangelo, parents; Angelo and Fulvia Amatangelo, brothers; Richard Amatangelo, Robert [Sue] Amatangelo, Ronald Amatangelo, and sisters; Jane [Tom] Mock, Patricia [James] Clark and Barbara Stepanovich, brothers-in-law; Daniel Villamagna and Mike Androw. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 6pm-9pm at Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00am at Christ the Servant Parish , 833 39th St NW, Canton, OH 44709, with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano celebrant. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
