Sakes Kandis age 73 of Canton, passed away peacefully August 23rd surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Thessaloniki, Greece to the late Peter and Roula Kandis. Sakes was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church and an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He showcased his love and talent of authentic Greek pastries and cake designing at Sakes' Greek Pastry Shop in Canton, Ohio. He continued his talent at Acme Fresh Market as a cake decorator and welcomed his retirement to enjoy his family and friends. Anyone who met Sakes would describe him as "one of a kind."

Sakes is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Efsevia "Voula" Kandis, children Roula (Evan) Volas, Pete (Ashley) Kandis, Gregory (Elena) Kandis, six grandchildren; Zachary Volas, Jacob, Anna, and Gus Kandis, Eva and Niko Kandis, sister Anthoula Douvalakis of Greece, and family and friends throughout the US and Greece.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 10 to 11 am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with services to follow at 11:00 am, Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will be in Northlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Sakes' name may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church.
