SAM MANOS, age 88 of Canton passed away March 14, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canton to the late John and Anna Manos. Sam was a 1943 graduate of McKinley High School, WW II Army Air Force veteran (1943-1946), and a 1951 graduate of The Ohio State University (Metallurgy) where he was on the Diving and Gymnastics teams. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox in 1988. Sam was inducted into the Canton Amateur Hall of Fame in August 1995 for diving. He enjoyed playing on the Thursday golf league, fishing, vacationing in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Ann, in 2010. He is survived by children: Sam (Stacey) Manos, Stacie Manos, Tina (Guy) Bolon and Stephanie (Michael) Boka. He leaves 8 grandchildren: JoJo (Ted), Selena (Dan), Tony (Brandy), Devin, Kristina, Jennifer, Nicholas and Ryan, 7 great-grandchildren: Luke, Sarah, Drew, Hayden, Lukas, Saylor and Bailey. Also surviving are sister Helen Marrs, brother Jim Manos, nephews and godchildren Kurt Marrs and Jacob Sekela. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Luke's Lutheran Home (Laurel Valley) and to Crossroads Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 17, one hour before the service starting at 10:00 am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sam's name to the St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church Renovation Fund or Crossroads Hospice.
