Samira Sabella, affectionately known as "Sammy," passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Fairlawn, Ohio. She was born in Jerusalem on August 7,1936, to the late Jacque and Lucy Sabella. Samira, her devoted husband of 60 years, Elie, and her children immigrated to Canton, Ohio in 1970 to pursue the American dream of a brighter future for the children. Samira was dedicated to her family and encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their full potential. She was the family’s cheerleader, taking pride in all accomplishments. Endowed with a loving, and strong-willed spirit, Samira's infectious personality effortlessly drew people to her, forming lasting bonds and friendships. Her grandchildren, who referred to her as “Teta” adored her, and she took immense pride in sharing stories about them. Samira was an amazing cook of traditional middle eastern dishes, avid reader, enjoyed music, especially the piano, loved fashion, and spoke numerous languages. Her smile lit up a room. She was actively involved in church ministries at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and remained deeply rooted in her Catholic faith throughout her life, always having a Rosary at hand.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elie Sabella; sister Jacqueline Clerc; and brother Emmanuel Sabella. Her bond with her husband was unbreakable, as evidenced by her persistent wish to be reunited with him.
Samira is survived by her children: Sam Sabella of Cumming, Georgia; Camille (Paula) Sabella of Richfield, Ohio; and Lila Sabella (Pete Maneff) Levendoski of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren Carmen, Julia (Nicholas), Annmarie, Melissa, and Michaela; her sister-in-law Cecile Sabella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home (730-30th St. NW Canton, OH 44709). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (3430 St. Michael Drive NW, Canton, OH 44718).
