September 18, 1948 – June 9, 2016
Samuel A. Garofalo, age 67 of Louisville, passed away suddenly on Thursday. He was born in Canton to the late Fausto J. Garofalo, Sr. and Victoria R. Rotar. Sam was a 1967 graduate of Canton Central Catholic High School where he was a starter in football, basketball and baseball. He also played basketball for the Air Force during his service. An avid bowler, Sam was inducted into the Amateur Bowling Hall of Fame. Bowling was his passion. He was a coach for the Central Catholic Bowling team and also coached many youths and youth teams. He was an Air Force veteran serving in Japan as a Special Intelligence Analyst during the Viet Nam War. Sam is survived by his sons Rico (Sara), Mark (Amanda) and Matthew (Jessica) Garofalo, seven grandchildren who were the love of his life, Kristen, Mikayla, Brayden, Mackensie, Isabella, Adrianna, and Stella, brother Fausto J. (Elvira) Garofalo, sister Vicky Lynn Clarke, nephews Marcello Garofalo, former wives Jeanne Benson who is the mother of their children and Joy Garofalo. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, services to follow at 6:00 pm. Respecting Sam's wishes he will be cremated. For those who wish, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
