Santina Notaro Trace

Age 92 of the Regency Senior Independent Living Center, passed away on Saturday morning, June 1st. She was born in Messina, Sicily, Italy on July 26, 1920. She was one of three children of Sam and Nicolina (Scorza) Notaro. She was a 1939 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. Santina was a housewife who enjoyed bowling, bingo, sewing, craft activities and cooking. She was active in the St. Anthony Ladies Craft Guild. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Canton. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Santina is survived by her son, Frank Trace of Perry Township, Bob Trace of Akron, son-in-law Jeff Banahan of Canton, Special family member Louie Mattachione, grandchildren, Robert (Diane) Tersigni, Theresa Trace (Randy) Kepley, Lisa Contrucci (John) Woods, Julie Contrucci (Joe) Wright, Tony Contrucci and step-granddaughter Erica (Brian) Rahe, great-grandchild, Austin Kepley, brothers-In-Law Harry (Nancy) Trace of Canton, Jim Trace of California, sisters-in-law Jeanette Ventura of California and Gina Notaro of Canton as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, husband Gust , daughters Linda Ann Trace, Tina Banahan and sister Elvira Pellegrini and brother Joe Notaro. Santina was a strong and loving lady who prided herself in her appearance and her friendships. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 4th at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Rev. Fr. Brian Cline celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
