Sister Mary Anna Leskovec, of the Holy Spirit, P.C.P.A.

Sister Mary Anna Leskovec, age 100, of the Order of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, died peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Regina Health Care Center in Richfield, Ohio, where she had been lovingly cared for since 2011 when she required care beyond that which could be provided at the monastery. Sister Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Mathew Leskovec and by her siblings, Adolph, Mathew, and Matilda. She is survived by her sister, Mary Pozelnik and several nieces and nephews. Sister Anna was born in Euclid, OH, the second of five children born to Anna and Mathew Leskoveck. She attended St. Paul Parochial School, and entered the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration in Cleveland at the age of 18. Two years later she volunteered with other members of the community to found a mission in India. After spending thirty-five years serving as an extern sister there, she returned to America in 1968, and spent several years in the community in Portsmouth, Ohio. Finally she came to Sancta Clara Monastery in 1971 in Canton where she served in many areas, baking altar breads, doing kitchen and secretarial work, serving as community seamstress, and doing art work. Sister Mary Anna was a great inspiration to all who knew her, and a true sister to all in the community. She loved a good time, and Scrabble was her favorite game! The Sancta Clara Community wishes to express special thanks to those at North East Professional Services who cared so devotedly for Sister Anna while she was still living at the monastery, and to the excellent staff at Regina Health Care in Richfield who provided so well for her when we could no longer do so at the monastery. Our thanks also to Holy Family Hospice for their special services during our sister's final days. Friends will be welcome at the monastery chapel on Monday, May 4/2015 from 1:00PM – 5:00 PM where the coffin will be open for viewing, and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 Tuesday, May 5/2015. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery.
