IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Socrates "Soc"
Sakolevidis
May 13, 1971 – January 29, 2025
Socrates "Soc" Sakolevidis was born in Canton, Ohio on May 13, 1971, and passed away to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the age of 53. He was preceded in death by his father John Sakolevas. Soc is survived by his loving mother Simela Sakolevas; daughters Kayla and Simela; their mother and his spouse April; and brother Emanuel Sakolevas. Also survived by aunt Maria Jordan, cousins Billy Jordan, Harry (Vicki) Jordanides; and many cousins in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Soc had a dynamic and intense personality. When he entered into a room his presence was known. He had a contagious smile, with that famous chipped tooth and was so boisterous you could not miss him. He was always cold, which is why he spent the final years of his life in Tampa, Florida for the beautiful weather.
As a young man, he was a talented soccer player. Teammates would comment on his large hands, which led to his success on the field as a goalie. Soc graduated from GlenOak High School in 1989, and after attended Kent State University as a Psychology major. His studies led him to his career in Florida, working as a transitional housing advocate, which he took great pride in.
When his family and friends remember Soc, they will remember his smile, his fear of bridges, his love for family, and how warm he kept his house even in the summer months. He will be deeply missed.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the church at 1 p.m., with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Halkias officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
