Sylvia M. (Radakovich) Mavrakis, age 97 of Canton, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021. She was born on November 12, 1923 in Canton to the late Michael and Mildred (Radasovich) Radakovich. She was retired from the St. Regis Paper Company, formerly The Corrugated Box Company.

She loved her husband, her church, her home, and her family. Sylvia and her husband, George, never missed a Greek dance. Hosting lavish dinners was her specialty. She was known as a very stylish and fashionable dresser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Mavrakis, sisters Diana Mae Bette, Edna Radanovich, Evelyn Pritza, Anne Thomas, Helen DeLuca, and brothers George and Peter Radakovich. Sylvia is survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, and their children.

The family would like to thank Mercy Medical Home Health Hospice and the Canton Christian Home for their endearing care. Also, a special thanks to the St. Haralambos Philoptochos and to Father Gamvas for their caring visits. Maria Calandros, niece and medical power of attorney, would like to give special thanks to Chaplain Steve for his frequent communication and prayers regarding her aunt's health during this covid crisis.

A private family funeral will be on Tuesday, November 2nd at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Donations, in Sylvia's name, may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church or to St. George Orthodox Church.
