Theodore (Ted) Fillis

passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the age of 92. He was born in Argos, Greece and moved to Canton when he met the love of his life Anastasia Bastounis (Fillis). He dearly loved and in return was loved by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Theodore was preceded in death by his parents Andreas and Vasiliki Fillis, and perhaps most significant his wife of 62 years Anastasia Fillis. He is survived by his sons Andrew (Katie) Fillis, Peter Fillis, and Steven (Effie) Fillis, and his grandchildren Drew, Leah, and Teddy whom together with Ann, were the loves of their lives. Ted joined the Hellenic Air Force out of high school and achieved the rank of Sergeant, supporting planning and logistic activities. After leaving the service, he migrated to America to continue his studies, attending the University of Michigan and Akron University. He worked until retirement at the Alcon Tool & Die Company. Ted was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, often serving on a committee, board, or event, a member of the AHEPA organization, and a long-time member of the church choir singing with Ann. He neither sought, and only rarely accepted recognition for his charitable work. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 30th from 10 to 11am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church prior to the funeral service starting at 11am with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in his memory.
