Theresa M. Corbett, age 91, passed away peacefully at the House of Loreto on January 2, 2016 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Henry Corbett; daughters, Debbie (Joe) Garofalo of Canton, OH, and Diane (Chuck) Peabody of Carmel, IN; her grandchildren: Anthony (Jenna) Garofalo, Maria (Anthony) Czekaj, Andrea Garofalo, Todd Peabody, Laura (Ryan) Davis, and Sarah Peabody; one great-grandchild, Sofia Garofalo and another due in February; sister-in-law Dorothy Corbett and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stefan and Teresa Julia Smelko; her sisters: Mary Gorilak, Virginia Horner and Anne Miller. Theresa was born on August 16, 1924 in Amsterdan, OH. She graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1942 and worked at the Canton Repository and the M. Conley Company. Theresa married Henry Corbett in 1954. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Peace (Christ the Servant) Catholic Church and was involved in the Ladies Guild and many volunteer activities associated with the church and Our Lady of Peace School. Theresa lived a full and beautiful life and has blessed her family with many treasured memories. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and "Nana." Her greatest joys in life were her husband, children, and grandchildren. She personified a warm, friendly, fun-loving spirit. She was also blessed with numerous, wonderful friends throughout her life. Theresa was a terrific dancer, and she and "Hank" turned many a head out on the dance floor. Our mother was a devout Catholic and was a wonderful example of living a faith-filled life. Through her kindness and gentle spirit, she touched many lives and will be missed by many. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 5 ^th from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Christ the Servant Parish at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 6 ^th at 11:30 am with Msg. Lewis F. Gaetano, celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the Servant Parish (1001 39 ^th St. NW, Canton,OH 44709) or the House of Loreto (2812 Harvard Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44709).
