THERESA A. (VOLPE) BITZEL, age 86 of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday afternoon. Born in Canton to the late Joseph and Laura (Brunoni) Volpe, she was preceded in death by her daughter Katherine Speros, sisters Fran Fowler, Mary Moody and brother Anthony J. Volpe Sr. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1948 and a member of St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish. Theresa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Peter Bitzel Sr., children Peter Jr. (Lorie) Bitzel, Richard (Kathy) Bitzel, Linda Petros, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sister Josephine Kullman and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Parish with Rev. Fr. Thomas Kraszewski, celebrant. Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery in Waynesburg. Theresa's greatest passion was loving and caring for animals.
