Obituary

Thomas T. Julian, Jr., age 79 of Canton, passed away Friday evening August 12th. Born in Canton to the late Thomas T. Julian, Sr. (Giuliano) and Rosaria Mancini, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Lou (Borello) Julian. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Tom was first employed with the A & P Tea Company for 26 years, as a meat cutter. He began his law enforcement career with the Stark Co. Sheriff's Department under Sheriff George Papadopoulos after which he served as a patrolman eventually being promoted to the rank of police chief for the Village of Hill & Dales. He retired as Police Chief after 25 years. Upon his retirement Tom entered service with the U.S. Marshall Service, Federal Court Duty, for 9 years. He was very proud of his 50 years volunteer service with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival and most recently served as Vice Chairman of the Retired Executive Professional Men's Club. Tom was also a member of the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association and the Stark County Police Chief's Association. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law Thomas T. "Ted" (Donna) Julian III, Tim Julian, grandsons Patric and Marc Giuliano, sister Martha McConnell, brother-in-law Dino (Tammy) Borello, nieces Paula (Moulton) Ferguson, Lisa Borello, nephew Matt Borello and numerous loving cousins and family members of the Julian, Mancini, Zirpolo and Studney families. Tom was fortunate to find a second love and life with Mary Alice Jones and her loving family; Michael (Mary) Lucius, Shelley (Dan) Roman, and Scott (Katie) Lucius. Tom enjoyed having coffee at Maryann's Donuts every morning and having dinner in the company of his many friends. He had a very strong work ethic and believed a key to a long life was to stay busy, productive and have a purpose in life, and that he did. He was truly a good family man and role model and will be sadly missed by all. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, North Canton. Internment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family would also like to express our deepest and most sincere thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of the Mercy Medical Center Cardiac Care Unit for their compassionate care and tireless efforts. You have touched our hearts forever.
